radiology-hospital-sharjahThe Oriana Hospital has an ultramodern Radiology and Medical Imaging department fully equipped with the state of the art imaging modalities. It is managed by a team of dedicated radiologists and technologists headed by a highly qualified and experienced senior consultant radiologist Dr. Nada Muwafaq Abbas.

A sophisticated new ultrasound machine is available to perform vascular colour Doppler, muscular skeletal imaging, ultrasonography of superficial parts like thyroid, neck and scrotum and Tran’s cranial ultrasound in addition to routine ultrasound studies. US guided interventional procedures as Fine needle aspiration and Trans rectal prostatic biopsy 3D/4D ultrasound pregnancy scans.

3D/4D scanning is an amazing three dimensional picture of your baby on the screen.4D is to see this 3D image in a real time moving state. Your baby can be moving, yawing, sucking its thumb and even smiling. The equipment uses sophisticated techniques transforming the traditional ultrasound 2D scan such as the one that you have at the ordinary obstetric ultrasound examination.

Full- field digital mammography system designed to provide physicians with clear and precise all-digital images rather than X-ray films. The system offers better visibility of the breast, particularly near the skin line, the chest wall, and in women with dense breast tissue. Examination time is reduced by half of the traditional film- based mammograms.

It is a form of x ray here digital X-ray sensors are used instead of traditional photographic film. Advantages include time efficiency through bypassing chemical processing and the ability to digitally transfer and enhance images. Also less radiation can be used to produce an image of similar contrast to conventional radiography.

An OPG is a panoramic or wide view x-ray of the lower face, which displays all the teeth of the upper and lower jaw on a single film. It demonstrates the number, position and growth of all the teeth including those that have not yet surfaced or erupted.

An OPG may also reveal problems with the jawbone and the joint which connects the jawbone to the head, called the Temporomandibular joint or TMJ.

An OPG may be requested for the planning of orthodontic treatment, for assessment of wisdom teeth or for a general overview of the teeth and the bone which supports the teeth

A Lat Ceph is a lateral or side view x-ray of the face, which demonstrates the bones and facial contours in profile on a single film. Lat Ceph x-rays are usually used in the diagnosis and treatment of orthodontic problems.

You may be asked to remove jewellery, eyeglasses, and any metal objects that may obscure the images. You will be asked to stand with your face resting on a small shelf and to bite gently on a sterile mouth piece to steady your head. It is important to stay very still while the x-ray is taken. You will not feel any discomfort during the following procedure

  • US 4- Dimension (Pregnancy Scans/ Anomaly Scans)
  • Color Doppler Studies
  • Routine 2-D Ultrasound
  • Digital Mammography
  • Digital X- Ray,
  • Panorama/ Cephalometry
